GLOVERSVILLE Several dozen Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home staffers recently received their first doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
A total of 57 healthcare workers from Nathan Littauer traveled to the “hub” vaccine location for the Mohawk Valley region in Utica on Dec. 23 to receive their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.
The vaccine was the first in the nation to receive emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this month and was recommended for use by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
Spread of COVID-19 Not Slowing Down In The Mohawk Valley
The spread of COVID-19 is not slowing down at all in Oneida County. Officials announced Monday 256 new positive cases, including 26 nursing home patients.
Oneida County officials also announced one new COVID-19 related death, bringing the death toll to 215 since the Pandemic began in March. Officials say 158 county residents are hospitalized with the virus. There are 131 residents at Mohawk Valley Health System, 19 residents are admitted at Rome Memorial Hospital and 8 residents are hospitalized outside of the county. There are currently 4,963 active positive cases and the total number of cases confirmed since the Pandemic began stands at 11,166.
Since Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020 Oneida County has seen an additional 879 positive COVID-19 cases.
During that time frame, 13 total patients have lost their life and that brings the death toll since the Pandemic began to 214. As of Sunday 146 county residents are hospitalized. There are 124 at Mohawk Valley Health System and 22 at Rome Memorial Hospital.
8 County Residents are hospitalized outside the county and 11 hospitalized residents are nursing home patients.
As of Sunday there are 4,756 active positive cases. On the other hand, a total of 4,440 cases have been resolved. Those 4,756 active cases have been placed under mandatory isolation and subsequently 2,563 people have been placed under a mandatory quarantine.

With 222 new cases and two more deaths reported Tuesday, Oneida County has a seven-day positivity rate of 9 percent, making it one of the highest in the state, county Executive Anthony Picente Jr. said during a Tuesday briefing.
That brings the death toll to 198 and total cases in the county to 9,767, with 3,759 of them still active.
Only two counties had higher positive rates as of Monday Genesee County at 11 percent and Fulton County at 10 percent, according to data from the New York State Department of Health. And the Mohawk Valley, which also includes Fulton County, has a seven-day positivity rate of 8.5 percent, the highest regional percentage in the state, according to the state health department.
