Utica Police are continuing to deal with an increase in violence in the city. Whether it be gun shots or other forms of violence, the police are responding to incidents almost daily.
Officials say units were called to a convenience store on Oneida Street Monday at approximately 10 a.m. regarding a stabbing incident. Police say the victim and another man were engaged in an altercation.
Officers say 29-year-old Davarr Pedlar allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach. The victim was then transported to St. Elizabeth’s in Utica for serious injuries, but is expected to survive. Pedlar is facing 1st degree Assault charges.

UTICA, N.Y. – Utica police have identified the man killed on Howard Avenue Wednesday night as 30-year-old Martin Martinez, of Utica.
According to police, Martinez was involved in an altercation on the 1400 block of Howard Avenue while he was driving a vehicle. Shots were fired, and officers were called to the scene around 7:40 p.m.
Martinez drove a short distance before crashing into a telephone pole. Officers found him inside the vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Utica Police Investigate Mary Street Shooting
Police were called to St. Elizabeth Hospital just after 8:30 regarding a walk-in gunshot victim.
They say a woman was suffering from a gunshot wound to the mid-back area.
The woman is in stable condition.
It was learned that the woman was seated in a vehicle when she was struck by gunfire.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Utica Police at (315) 223-3556, are submit an anonymous tip at Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers.com.

Utica, N.Y. Utica police say they are investigating the homicide of a 17-year-old boy shot and killed early Monday.
Jahzeir Johnson, of Utica, was found shot in the 1400 block of City Street shortly after midnight, police said.
Officers were dispatched to City Street to investigate reports of a male shot. When they arrived, they found Johnson lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.
