At Turning Point Treatment Center in Paducah, the team has learned it takes a village to save anyone. When a individual walks in, a lot of times they need a little hope, Turning Point program director Shamike Stiles said. Sometimes that does come in the form of finical assistance.
Stiles is celebrating a $900,000 federal grant that allows Turning Point to give monetary help to those who need it. The grant was awarded by the Comprehensive Opioid Stimulant and Substance Abuse Program. Turning Point, as well as other addiction related programs in eight west Kentucky counties will benefit from the money. PADUCAH â A Paducah man faces charges of assault and wanton endangerment after the McCracken County Sheriff s Department says he was involved in two crashes, fleeing the scene of each.Â
Around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, 46-year-old John Hallows allegedly crashed a truck into a van driving on Blandville Road, the sheriff s department says in a news release. The van was forced off the roadway in the collision, but the sheriff s office says the woman driving it was uninjured.
Investigators say Hallows fled the scene of that crash, only to crash into a second van in the 600 block of Massac Church Road. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a man and woman trapped inside the van. The two â Dawn and William Carroll of Paducah â were removed from the vehicle by mechanical means and taken by ambulance to Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital. A Paducah man was killed after being struck by a car while walking on North Friendship Road early Tuesday morning, according to the McCracken County Sheriffâs Department.
Sheriffâs reports indicate Russell Fleming Jr., 38, was walking in the roadway at the intersection of Friendship Road and Kimberly Drive when he was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Aaron Hobbs, 21, of Paducah, at approximately 5:45 a.m.
The vehicle struck Fleming in the middle of the road, according to the sheriffâs department. Fleming was pronounced dead at the scene by McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton.
Friendship Road was closed to traffic for about four hours as the accident was investigated.

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) - A man is in custody in connection to a report of a reckless driver that led to a head-on crash.
At around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, deputies and troopers responded to a reckless driver complaint on Blandville Road.
While responding, McCracken County deputies were told the suspect vehicle had hit another vehicle head-on on Massac Church Road. The driver then ran away.
