Mysore/Mysuru: A 72-year-old maternity hospital
Seth Mohandas Tulsidas Hospital on JLB Road has paved way for a high-tech 100-bed designated COVID Health Centre in city and the facility was inaugurated this morning. Local residents and old-timers call this Hospital as ‘Hallada Aaspatre’ as it was located in a steep ditch (‘halla’ in Kannada).
The Hospital has been readied and operationalised by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), District Administration (Health Department) along with Cauvery Heart and Multi-Speciality Hospital.

A 100-bed Covid Care Centre with 70 oxygenated bed facility was inaugurated at Seth Mohandas Tulasidas Maternity Hospital on Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Road in Mysuru on Thursday.
Set up jointly by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Cauvery Hospital, it was inaugurated by Minister for Cooperation S.T. Somashekar, who is also in charge of Mysuru district.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Somashekar said the facility will have 10 ICU beds in addition to 70 oxygenated beds. Ten beds each will be reserved for Corona Warriors and pregnant women.

The foundation stone laying ceremony for a public library in Rajiv Nagar has been put off due to COVID-19.
A library set up by 62-year-old Syed Ishaq in Rajiv Nagar was destroyed in a fire earlier this month and the government had planned to start construction of a full-fledged library at the same spot on World Book Day on April 23.
The postponement of the function was following a decision taken by the State against holding any foundation stone laying ceremony or inaugural function, which attract a large number of people, for at least the next two months. An announcement in the regard had been made by Minister for Revenue R. Ashok.
