Each week we salute First Responders, the men and women who run in when most of us would run out. While we honor their courage, just as importantly we honor their commitment to the community they serve.  This week we honor George Massarotti with the Whitesboro Fire Department. Currently, George serves as the Chief with the Whitesboro Fire Department. He first joined the department in May of 1983. Like many First Responders, Chief Massarotti followed in the footsteps of his father and uncle. A lifelong resident of the Village, he s the first chief to be from Whitesboro since 1979. He s also a career firefighter, retiring from the Fort Drum Fire and Emergency Services as Assistant Chief of Training. George is also a Fire Protection Specialist with the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control in Oriskany and also served as a New York State Fire Instructor.
