When Marie Kearse-Ace was young, she spent her afternoons visiting Wilson Park with her friends, eating at restaurants on Harrison Street and roller skating at the rink on Oakwood Avenue before she was forced to leave.  Kearse-Ace grew up in a house that her grandfather built on Renwick Place, where the parking garage for Upstate University Hospital now sits. In her neighborhood, she recalled grocery stores, hairdressers, youth centers and a sense of community all within feet of her house.

DOT area road work for this week UTICA The following is the New York State Department of Transportation Mohawk Valley roadwork submission report for the week beginning today, according to a news release. Montgomery County City of Amsterdam: Route 30 over the Canal. There will be left lane closures in both directions. There will be a north bound auxiliary lane closure. The Route 30 north bound to Route 5 east bound ramp as well as the Erie Street to Route 30 north bound ramps are closed with a detour in place. The Route 5 east bound ramp to Route 30 south bound remains closed with the downtown exit detour in place.

Temporary bridge reopens Sitterly Road over Northway in Clifton Park; With video | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 The bridge had been closed since April 14, when it was damaged by a commercial vehicle.  The DOT installed a temporary bridge above Interstate 87’s southbound lanes on May 2, and has worked since then to install approaches, ramps, pavement and railing connecting to the new bridge. The speed limit over the Northway on Sitterly Road has been reduced to 30 mph, and the temporary bridge is restricted for overweight and oversized loads.  GAZETTE COVERAGE

Brockport lift bridge reopens to traffic

Created: May 10, 2021 01:23 PM BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) A Brockport lift bridge is back open to traffic. According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the bridge connecting Fayette Street and Park Avenue is now reopened. Crews had been working on the flooring system to increase weight limits on the bridge. Sidewalks are still closed but the DOT says it is expected to reopen in the next few weeks. Park Ave/Fayette Rd Lift Bridge over the Erie Canal in #Brockport recently re-opened to vehicular traffic following repairs to the flooring system to increase weight limits on the bridge.
