YORKTOWN, Va. The York-Poquoson Sheriff s Office says a homeowner was shot by a person after he tried to stop the suspect from breaking into vehicles early Monday morning.
Deputies were called to the 100 block of Leslie Lane in Yorktown for a shooting. That s in the Tabb Lakes subdivision.
Authorities say someone was breaking into vehicles when a male homeowner confronted the person. The homeowner, who is an off-duty Gloucester County Sheriff s Office deputy, was shot. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Authorities have detained a suspect in the early morning shooting of an off-duty Gloucester County sheriff’s deputy in the Yorktown area.
Jordan Edmonds Hilliard, 21, from Hampton, was arrested and charged with 12 offenses, including attempted capital murder and aggravated malicious wounding, according to a news release from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.
Hilliard is currently being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
At 4:02 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the 100 Block of Leslie Lane in the Tabb Lakes subdivision for a report of a shooting. It appears that someone was breaking into vehicles, and the deputy who lives in the community confronted the person and was shot, YPSO said in a news release on Monday.

YORK COUNTY, Va. A teenage boy from Newport News accused of the murder of a boy from James City County has been arrested and is now facing charges.
York-Poquoson Sheriff s Office arrested a 17-year-old boy involved in the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Jordan Miller early Saturday, Dec. 19. Officers responded to the shooting on Dec. 13 in the 100 block of Drew Road, located in the Carvers Gardens neighborhood.
The sheriff s office said the 17-year-old boy was charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of use of firearm in commission of a felony.
Following the suspect s arrest, officers said the 17-year-old was taken to the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff s Office, the 17-year-old was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of using a firearm in commission of a felony. He was then taken to the Merrimac Center.
Miller was shot and killed in the Carvers Gardens neighborhood in Williamsburg, where neighbors say he was visiting a friend.
