The Game : Angola Dominates Cape Verde
The 13-times African champions beat Cape Verde 39-14 in the first group C game yesterday June 10 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.
It was a rather exciting encounter at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex yesterday, June 10, 2021. Angola once more demonstrated their prowess in handball after beating new comers, Cape Verde, 39-14 in their first group C game. From the start of the game the Angolans took the forefront and dominated the game for the first 25 minutes. The 13 times African champions dominated the game with their swift and accurate passes. They were able to have full control over their adversaries through top shooters like Bernado Natalia Maria, Venabcio Liliana Da Silva and Silva Vilma Chissola Ebo, among others. The Cape Verdeans fought back with shooters like Carvalho Jorgeana, Oliveira Celia and Almeida Miriam, among others. But they found it difficult to break through the Angolan defence wall. Facelift For Host Infrastructure
The Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex will host the games and some training sessions. Meanwhile, the Mfandena gymnasium and the National Advanced School of Public Works will serve for trainings.
The Senior Women Handball Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is drawing near with the concerned infrastructures preparing to host the competition in serenity. The Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex has been earmarked to host the games and some training sessions. On Saturday May 29, 2021 when we visited the complex, it was evident that the infrastructure in terms of hygiene and maintenance from the reporter’s eye was on point. The surroundings, the main hall and the pitch itself were visibly clean. A source at the complex assured us that maintenance and hygiene work have been done to ensure that the competition is well organised. AFCON 2021 : Mascot, Anthem Unveiled
The mascot “Mola” andhymn song “AfricaSmile” were presented in a ceremony in Yaounde on Saturday May 15, 2021 while waiting for approval from CAF.
The main hall of the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex was the venue of the ceremony to unveil the best selected works of the National Artistic Contest for the official anthem and mascot of the Total Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021.
