The handball Lionesses of Senegal have proved their strength by thrashing Madagascar 42-16 in the first group A game of the Senior Women’s Handball African Cup of Nations. The game counting for Day-2 of the competition was played yesterday June 9, 2021 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex. The encounter started with a lot of pressure from both sides. The score was opened by Senegal less than two minutes into the encounter. This opening goal seemed to have rekindled the lion spirit in the Senegalese players. Facelift For Host Infrastructure
The Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex will host the games and some training sessions. Meanwhile, the Mfandena gymnasium and the National Advanced School of Public Works will serve for trainings.
The Senior Women Handball Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is drawing near with the concerned infrastructures preparing to host the competition in serenity. The Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex has been earmarked to host the games and some training sessions. On Saturday May 29, 2021 when we visited the complex, it was evident that the infrastructure in terms of hygiene and maintenance from the reporter’s eye was on point. The surroundings, the main hall and the pitch itself were visibly clean. A source at the complex assured us that maintenance and hygiene work have been done to ensure that the competition is well organised. AFCON 2021 Mascot, Anthem : Three Best Proposals Shortlisted

Cameroon is drawing nearer to getting a suitable mascot and anthem for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with the selection of the three best anonymous proposals in each category. This was during a ceremony chaired by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who doubles as the President of the AFCON Organising Committee (COCAN) on May 5, 2021 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.
