ROCKINGHAM Co., N.C. â Around 4:45 p.m. yesterday evening, the Rockingham County Sheriff s Office began receiving reports of two individuals laying along the roadway of U.S. 29 Bypass in the northbound lane between the Barnes St. and N.C. 14 intersections.
A third individual was located shortly after Sheriff s Deputies and other first responders began arriving on scene.
All three of these individuals appeared to have suffered apparent gunshot wounds while traveling northbound on U.S. 29 Bypass on two motorcycles. Two of the three victims are deceased.
Victim information is not being released at this time, pending family notifications.
The northbound lane of highway U.S. 29 was closed last night for investigative purposes. Northbound traffic toward Danville was detoured though that area.

CLOVER HILL A 19-year-old suspect has been charged in the slaying of a Dayton man who was found dead early Wednesday morning in Rockingham County, a press release said.
Shortly after 5 a.m., the Rockingham County Sheriff s Office responded to Whitmore Shop Road, near the intersection of Mount Clinton Pike, for a medical emergency. Minutes later, another call came in for a disorderly conduct complaint on Eden Valley Road in close proximity to the location of the first call. Deputies immediately responded to both locations to investigate, authorities said.
At the scene of the first call, authorities found the body of 46-year-old Chad A. Mines of Dayton.
