Uneventful weather expected this week, more active pattern possible next week

Weather model for 05/21 shows rain possible in Western Kentucky. This week’s weather should be pretty uneventful, but a more active weather pattern next week could cause headaches for local high schools that have graduations scheduled. Rick Shanklin with the National Weather Service in Paducah addressed the long-range weather models available for May 21 when Christian County and Hopkinsville High School are set to hold outdoor commencement at the Stadium of Champions noting one model currently shows the potential for rain in the region though a lot can and likely will change between now and then.

Calm weather expected for next couple weeks

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 12, 2021 9:56 AM Western Kentucky is in for a couple of weeks of relatively calm weather, but that certainly does not mean spring severe weather season is over. Rick Shanklin is the warning coordination meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Paducah and appeared Monday morning on WHOP. He says there doesn’t appear to be any major storm systems in the forecast for the next couple weeks. He says there are indications the weather pattern could become more active toward the end of April. The most important thing to remember during severe weather season or any other month is to have multiple ways to receive a warning when one is issued.
