The county was only serving people 75 and older. Teachers who are eligible by state standards for vaccination were told they don’t qualify by county standards and were sent home. “We apologize for the inconvenience it caused for those who were scheduled who had to wait in line longer than they anticipated,” the Montgomery County Health Department said in a statement.   Seniors are facing long lines in Montgomery County amid confusion over who can actually get vaccinated. Chris Gordon reports. According to the health department, many people showed up at the Richard Montgomery clinic and a vaccination clinic at Quince Orchard High School who had made appointments through a forwarded link or did not have appointments. The health department said those links are only for the direct recipient and vaccines are administered by appointment only.

Richard Montgomery Student Killed While Helping a Friend The suspect arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Richard Montgomery High School student Feb. 6 told Howard County Police that he shot Simeon Mbuyu Mukuna, because “he felt as though the victim was looking at him with malice and thought the victim was going to try to harm him.” He also told police that he did not know and had never met Mukuna, of North Potomac. Mukuna, 18, was in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Monarch Mills Way in Columbia helping a friend with maintenance to his car when he “walked to his vehicle to retrieve a jacket and as he walked back across the parking, a blue vehicle pulled alongside him,” it states in documents from the District Court of Maryland for Howard County.

According to police, Mukuna was helping a friend fix their car at an apartment complex on Monarch Mills Way Saturday evening.  Witnesses say Mukuna went to get a jacket out of his car. As he walked back across the parking lot, Weems pulled up beside him and fired nearly a dozen shots, killing the teen. Charging documents say Weems told police he felt Mukuna, the victim, was going to try to harm him. He also told police he had never seen Mukuna before.
