STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Police released the name of the man who died after being shot in the chest in Port Richmond Wednesday afternoon.
Luis Ramirez, 24, of Palmer Avenue, was shot in the chest and rushed to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton where he was pronounced dead, police said in a statement.

Police responded to a report of a shooting inside of a home on Palmer Avenue near Lexington Avenue, an NYPD spokesman said.

The man was shot in the chest and rushed to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, according to the spokesman.
The identity of the man has not been released yet pending proper family notification.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The borough’s coronavirus (COVID-19) hospitalization total fell even closer to double-digits, while four more suspected disease-related deaths were recorded here.
At the same time, just over 100 new confirmed coronavirus cases were added to Staten Island’s total, city Health Department data shows.
As of Thursday afternoon, 102 coronavirus in-patients were being treated in the borough’s two hospital systems. That count dropped six from Wednesday’s tally of 108.
