A man is being interviewed by police in connection with the woman’s death, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, 1,196 borough residents are believed to have succumbed the coronavirus. The fatalities include 1,006 Staten Islanders with confirmed COVID-19 cases, up 26 from Tuesday. In addition to the confirmed deaths, 190 fatalities were in the “probable” category, a decrease of 18 over the last 24 hours. A death is classified as “probable” if the decedent was a city resident who had no known positive laboratory test for the coronavirus, but the death certificate lists “COVID-19” or an equivalent as a cause of death.
