Authorities investigate stabbing death of El Rancho Mirage man

Victorville Daily Press The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department  is investigating the death of a 30-year-old El Mirage man after he was stabbed  during a fight and taken to a medical facility in Victorville that does not offer emergency room services. Detectives from the Sheriff s Specialized Investigations Division determined that Sonny Crawford had armed himself with a kitchen knife before he was stabbed during a physical altercation with a man at a residence in the 17000 block of County Road in El Mirage, sheriff s officials reported Thursday. Deputies responded shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday to the report of a man bleeding at the Kaiser Permanente High Desert Medical Office on Park Avenue.

Winter storm brings snow to mountains, rain to Victor Valley

Victorville Daily Press The National Weather Service’s winter storm warning issued Tuesday brought snow to the local mountains and scattered showers to the Victor Valley a day later.  The NWS reported Wednesday afternoon that the San Bernardino National Forest received snow overnight, with Crestline topping the list of communities, with 7 inches.  Mountain High, Lake Arrowhead, Snow Summit and Arrowbear received 5 inches of snow, while Wrightwood received 4 inches, according to preliminary data compiled by NWS.  In the High Desert, Hesperia and southwest Victorville received less than .04 inches of rain and the Mojave River Dam garnered less than a quarter. On Wednesday, Caltrans District 8 posted several photos on Twitter of crews plowing snow in the local mountains. The agency also said chain control remained in the Big Bear area. 

Images released of alleged hit-and-run vehicle after Victorville man s death

Victorville Daily Press Sheriff’s authorities on Thursday released video surveillance images of a vehicle allegedly involved in the hit-and-run death of a 37-year-old Victorville man.  The Victorville Sheriff’s Station shared the images, taken at approximately 5:40 a.m. Monday, that show what appears to be an older model Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck on Seventh Street. The truck is dark in color, possibly navy blue, and may have front-end damage, according to the sheriff’s report. Station officials reported Monday that at approximately 5:46 a.m. that day, deputies and personnel from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a hit and run on Seventh Street near East Sand Street.
