Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley plans to host a mass COVID-19 vaccination site starting next week, and hospital officials say they hope to eventually serve up to 1,000 people a day.
In a statement released Tuesday, St. Mary officials said the San Bernardino County clinic is scheduled to open Feb. 16 at Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church, 18386 Corwin Road, adjacent to the hospital.
Once open, the site will be the county s first mass COVID-19 vaccination site in the Victor Valley, according to St. Mary officials who said they volunteered to administer the vaccines.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians will host an inaugural “Virtual Career Fair Expo” later this month that is designed to fill 500 jobs for the upcoming expansion of the San Manuel Casino in Highland.
The online job expo is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m Feb. 18 and will include on-the-spot interviews. The event also kicks off San Manuel’s 10-month recruitment initiative to fill 2,000 permanent, full-time positions by the end of the year.
During the expo, job seekers will also have the opportunity to browse a collection of videos to learn about the work environment at San Manuel.
Flying Nun House in Apple Valley on the market once again for $729,000

The iconic “Flying Nun House,” which sits on a rocky hillside near Highway 18 in Apple Valley is for sale once again.
Constructed in 1966 by the late businesswoman Berneice Lynn, the historic home on Rimrock Road features a panoramic view of the Victor Valley, as well as a unique design that reminded onlookers of a classic TV show.
As such, decades ago, locals dubbed the home the “Flying Nun House” due to a roofline that resembles the nun’s hat worn by actress Sally Field in the The Flying Nun series that originally ran on ABC from 1967 to 1970.

Apple Valley Sheriff s Station spokeswoman Jackie Alban on Monday told the Daily Press that missing 10-year-old Deshawn Adams had been found safe.
The Sheriff’s Station reported on Facebook the search for Adams, who was last seen at approximately 12:15 p.m. Monday in the 14000 block of Ramona Circle.
The area is located near the intersection of Bear Valley and Central roads, just east of Apple Valley High School.
The report said Adams possibly had an injury to his hand due to a dog bite and was last seen wearing a blue pajama top that reads “Hangry Shark.
