Victor Valley residents awoke Monday morning to a second round of falling snow, which began Sunday night and turned the area into a winter wonderland with dangerous driving conditions.
A slight chance of rain was also expected Monday, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a same-day wind advisory from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Apple Valley and Lucerne Valley. Winds were expected to reach 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
Saturday’s snowstorm included 2 inches of powder in Apple Valley, 2 to 3 inches in Hesperia, 3 inches in Lucerne Valley, 9 inches in Crestline and just over a foot in the Big Bear area, the NWS reported.
Part of Mariposa Road closed for sewer line installation to aid development in Hesperia

A portion of Mariposa road near the Ranchero Road Interchange in Hesperia remains closed for the installation of a sewer line that will assist future business growth in the area.
Hesperia Deputy City Manager Rachel Molina told the Daily Press Friday that Mariposa Road between Ranchero Road and Mesquite will remain closed through Feb. 8.
Molina said the portion of Mariposa Road first closed on Jan. 4. Because it s a full closure, it will not reopen at any time of the day.
The installation of the sewer line is part of a larger infrastructure improvement project approved last year by the council, the Daily Press reported.

Inside Barstow Community Hospital, 27-year-old Destiny Alexander wore a tear-stained face mask as she hugged her dying grandmother, gently kissed her face and said her final goodbye.
Moments later, Mable Diane Vallejos, 68, took her final breath. Three days earlier, on Jan. 2, her husband, Army veteran Andres “Andrew” Manfor Vallejos Sr., 70, died.
Andrew and Mable Vallejos had been married for nearly 49 years in December when they both contracted COVID-19 and were admitted to Barstow Community Hospital.
Alexander told the Daily Press her grandparents official causes of death have not been released, but she said both suffered the virus effects.
Riverside man killed Friday after collision with tractor-trailer on I-40 east of Barstow

An unidentified man from Riverside died after his vehicle collided into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 east of Barstow, California Highway Patrol officials said Friday.
The crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m. Friday as the Riverside man, 69, drove a 2005 Chevrolet pick-up truck westbound I-40, east of Crucero Road, the CHP Barstow Area office reported.
Officials said the man was driving at a high rate of speed in the No. 2 lane when he came up on a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer towing a tanker trailer and traveling at nearly 55 mph.
