ISLAMABAD: The District Health Office (DHO) on Wednesday sealed a college in G-9 after Covid-19 cases were detected in the institution.
It was the second educational institution in the capital to be closed in the last five days.
On Saturday, Islamabad Model School for Girls (IMCG) G-7/2 was sealed on Saturday while Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) (VI-XII) G-9/2 was closed on the orders of District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia on Wednesday.

ISLAMABAD: The government is aiming to achieve herd immunity by vaccinating 70 million people against Covid-19 by the end of the current year. About 30 million people will be vaccinated by September.
This was stated by representatives of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) about the ruling party’s policy on vaccination and management of the impact of Covid-19 on education and economy at a session organised by Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (Pildat) at a local hotel on Thursday.
Party’s central joint secretary Mussadiq Ghumman, parliamentary secretary national health services Dr Nausheen Hamid and others attended the session.
RAWALPINDI: Two persons succumbed to Covid-19 and another 95 tested positive in the capital and Rawalpindi district on Friday.
Mateen Haider, 63, a resident of Bahria Town Phase-8, was brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) on Feb 1 where he died on Friday.
Anwarul Haq, 52, from Chaklala Scheme-III, was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Feb 3 where he breathed his last late Thursday night.
Out of the 16 new patients, 13 arrived in the city’s hospitals from Rawalpindi city and cantonment areas, two from Gujar Khan and one from Kahuta.
The district has recorded 267 active patients with 53 being treated in hospitals and 204 patients home isolated. As many as 469 patients are waiting for their Covid-19 serology results.
CM inaugurates corona vaccination drive

Rawalpindi : Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar inaugurated the free corona vaccination drive at a ceremony held at Punjab House Islamabad on Wednesday in which Dr Fraz and doctor Samavia Akbar of Rawalpindi Institute of Urology were vaccinated, says a press release.
On the occasion, the CM said vaccination of frontline health workers has been started while elderly citizens will be vaccinated in the second phase. 189 centres have been established to vaccinate the citizens, he said and added that citizen’s data will also be secured. The government has arranged 2500 ice line refrigerators to preserve the vaccine, he added. Meanwhile, the CM said the registration of more than 4 lakh health workers has been completed while over 600 master-trainers have been given technical training to train others.
