Covid-19 Regional Report Monday
Tuolumne County Tuolumne County Public Health reports sadly their investigations have confirmed two additional deaths due to COVID. One was a previously unreported case from January of a female in her 90’s and the other was a previously reported case from April of a woman in her 60’s.
There were four new community cases on Saturday, none on Sunday and two today. The six new cases are a man age 18 to 29, a woman and a man age 40 to 49, a man age 50 to 59, and two women 90 and older. No COVID-positive residents are hospitalized. A total of 17 cases are considered active.

Tuolumne County has a total of 4,122 cases split between 2,705 community cases and 1,417 Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) inmate cases, the California Department of Corrections counts two active inmate cases. Total community cases released from isolation are 2,625 and the total number of tests administered is 92,562. The county report lists 16,823 fully vaccinated residents and 4,891 individuals partially vaccinated.

The new cases are a boy age 17 or younger, a man age 18 to 29, a woman age 30 to 39, a woman age 40 to 49 a man age 50 to 59, a man age 60 to 69 and a woman over 90. No COVID-positive residents are hospitalized and three were released from isolation. A total of 18 cases are considered active. According to Tuolumne Public Health’s chart the last time there were seven positive tests reported in one day was over a month ago on March 17, there were a total of eight cases on that day.

COVID-19
Sonora, CA The more easily transmissible UK variant of COVID-19 has been confirmed for the first time in Tuolumne County.
Interim Public Health Officer, Dr. Eric Sergienko, says the person contracted it via “community transmission.” Dr. Sergienko adds that the person had not been vaccinated and went to receive a test after experiencing symptoms. Public Health is not releasing whether it was a man or woman but indicates that the individual was between the ages of 20-50.
The person tested positive for COVID-19 in late April, and the sample was further analyzed by the State Public Health Department, as some others have been. The UK variant was confirmed yesterday and information was relayed to local officials late last night.
