OXFORD - A Lafayette County man was arrested Monday and charged with stealing a tractor.
Oxford police were dispatched to the 2100 block of Old Taylor Road May 17 for the theft of a tractor. Officers located the tractor in question in a nearby parking lot and made contact with Matthew Hancock, 38, of Oxford.
After further investigation, Hancock was arrested, charged with grand larceny and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center. A Lafayette County Justice Court judge set his bond at $10,000, but he will not be getting out soon, because the Mississippi Department of Corrections has placed a hold on him.

OXFORD ⢠A Lafayette County man has been charged with an early May hit-and-run that left a pedestrian hospitalized.
On May 1, Oxford police responded to Jackson Avenue near Martin Luther King Drive in reference to a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle. The suspect vehicle left the scene following the incident.
Responding officers found the victim, injured, lying in the middle of Jackson Avenue. Medics were called to the scene; they transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Nolan Smith, 19, of Oxford, on May 12. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a felony. A Lafayette County Justice Court judge issued Smith a $25,000 bond.

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) The Oxford Police Department charged a 26-year-old with kidnapping and multiple misdemeanors this week.
Police officers arrested Landon Dove of Caledonia after a two hour standoff.
The domestic disturbance call was made on May 8th from Eagle Point Loop, according to OPD.
Upon arrival, dispatch learned that a person inside was being held against their will.
After two hours of trying to peacefully resolve the issue, officers made entry into the home and secured the victim inside.
