IT WAS an unusual experience both for the garda on the counter in Henry Street and Limerick journalist, Hannah Quinn-Mulligan, who had a basket of antibiotics bought in Northern Ireland in her hands.
Gardai are more used to seizing drugs from people than people surrendering them which is exactly what Ms Quinn-Mulligan was doing.
The Farmers Journal reporter went to Henry Street following an excellent investigation by the newspaper into the sale of veterinary medicines, the Leader has learned from sources.

A man who held five members of the board of management at a Longford town primary school hostage and committed an armed robbery has told the court of his addiction issues which began at the age of 14.
James Cranny, 14 Meadowcrest, Boyle, Co Roscommon, appeared before Judge Keenan Johnson at Longford District Court where he read out five letters of apology to the victims of his actions in August 2020.
The court heard that the man had consumed a significant amount of intoxicants before carrying out an armed robbery at the school, including a bottle of whiskey, 38 sleeping tablets, 40 valium tablets and heroine.

Several members of an Edgeworthstown family that gardaí suspect of running an illegal puppy farm have been served with the book of evidence and will go to Circuit Court.
Jonathan Wykes, Jane Ward, Margaret Stokes, Johanna Wykes and Chantel Stokes, all of Lisnanagh, Edgeworthstown appeared at last week’s sitting of Granard District Court and will reappear at Longford Circuit Court on June 1.
A sixth family member, Kevin Stokes was due to appear at Tuesday’s sitting of Longford District Court to also be be served with the book of evidence.
