LaSalle County Health Department to offer Johnson and Johnson Vaccine on Saturdays

May 6, 2021 OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Health Department will be offering Johnson and Johnson “One and Done” COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics on Saturday mornings by appointment, at the health department in Ottawa. The CDC and FDA have recommended that use of J&J/ COVID-19 Vaccine resume in the United States. A review of all available data at this time shows that the vaccine’s known and potential benefits outweigh its known and potential risks. However, women younger than 50 years old especially should be aware of the rare risk of blood clots with low platelets after vaccination. Local Weather

Two COVID-19 related deaths in LaSalle County

April 29, 2021 OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Health Department reported two more individuals have died from complications related to COVID-19. With the addition of these deaths, a male in his 60’s and another in his 90’s, there have been a total of 296 coronavirus related deaths throughout the county. 40 new cases of COVID-19 were also reported along with 12 new recovered cases. In total, LaSalle County has seen 12,249 coronavirus cases with 10,112 recoveries. Local Weather

LaSalle Co reaches over 50 positive COVID-19 cases, fewer deaths

OTTAWA – Positive COVID-19 cases in LaSalle County reached just over 50 residents, a number not reported since January. On Wednesday the LaSalle County Health Department reported 51 cases, but no deaths in the past four days. While the county has seen fewer deaths since the start of this year, case reports are sporadic. Earlier this week the Illinois Department of Public Health reports the COVID-19 infection rate in the state is improving for the first time in weeks. The LaSalle County Health Department will host a first dose Pfizer and Moderna vaccination clinic at Illinois Valley Community College on Friday with spaces limited.
