Chromebooks en route as N.L. schools move online, says education minister
About 10,000 more Chromebooks are coming in the next week or two, says Minister Tom Osborne, to cover off all Grade 7 to 12 students who need devices for online learning.

N.L. Education Minister On School Closures – February 15, 2021
In St. John’s, Tom Osborne, the Newfoundland and Labrador education minister, and Tony Stack, CEO and director of education for the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, provide an update on efforts to move the province’s schools to online learning. In-person classes are suspended until at least February 26. The move comes following the implementation of ‘alert level 5’ restrictions due to an outbreak of the B.1.1.7 variant of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) in the province. All K-12 students will transition to online learning by February 18. High school and intermediate students in the St. John’s area have already started online learning after schools in the region were ordered to close on February 11 for at least two weeks.
