COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Nebraska both dropped sharply last week, signaling that the state might be turning a corner and avoiding a fourth wave of the disease.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, there were 1,745 cases in the seven-day period that ended Wednesday, a decline of more than 30% from the previous week. Over the past three weeks, the average number of daily cases has fallen by almost half, from 491 to 249.

In all, more than a thousand people got their first shots of the Pfizer vaccine.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln announced Thursday it will host a second vaccination clinic on Monday, May 3.Â
According to a statement from the Office of the Chancellor, the clinic will utilize the one-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The clinic will be at the Hawks Championship Center, 1111 Salt Creek Roadway, starting at 9 a.m. and continue through the last appointment.
Students, faculty and staff must pre-register with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department and select an appointment time. Individuals age 18 will be directed how to provide parental consent.
