LOWVILLE â Felony sex abuse charges relating to a Copenhagen incident were issued on Wednesday morning against a Watertown man currently in Jefferson County jail.
Austin Vrooman, 20, was charged with two counts of felony first-degree sexual abuse by the Lewis County Sheriffâs Office.
According to the news release on the arrest, Vrooman allegedly âsubjected an adult to unwanted sexual contactâ in Copenhagen on March 3.
He was arraigned virtually in Lewis County Court and returned to jail, where he was being held for a separate incident, on $100 bail.
Marissa M. Perretta, 22, of Carthage, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child on Saturday afternoon by state police.

COPENHAGEN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Lewis County Sheriffâs Office charged a 20 year old man with two counts of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, a felony.
Austin Vrooman allegedly subjected an adult to âunwanted sexual conductâ in the village of Copenhagen on March 3, according to a statement from the Sheriffâs Office.
Vrooman was sent back to Jefferson County jail, where he is being held on other charges, on $100 cash bail.
Vrooman was arrested Wednesday. HIs arrest was announced Friday.

LOWVILLE, N.Y. A joint investigation between the Lewis County Sheriff s Office and the New Hartford Police Department led to an arrest over a theft that reportedly took place on Jan. 17, 2021.
Police say 29-year-old Chad Bartlett, of New Hartford, was arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise from the Walmart in Lowville.
Bartlett was taken into custody around 7 p.m. Tuesday night and charged with petit larceny.
