Police said an initial investigation determined a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling eastbound on State Route 611 / Henderson Drive. After passing the intersection with Elyria Avenue, the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the road due to excessive speed and lost control. Lorain Police Traffic Commissioner Officer Kyle Gelenius said the LPD Traffic Bureau was called to the 2060 block of East 29th Street for a fatal crash at approximately 12:27 a.m.

Updated: 9:55 AM EST December 17, 2020 LORAIN, Ohio Two teen children are dead following a car crash in Lorain early Thursday morning. Police say a 16-year-old boy was driving a Chevrolet HHR westbound on East 29th Street, with a 15-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl as passengers. Just after passing Oakwood Avenue around 12:27 a.m., the apparently speeding vehicle went off the right side of road and slammed into a tree. The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Health hospital, but was successfully treated and eventually released. However, both passengers were killed at the scene, and identification is pending from the Lorain County Coroner s Office.
