The Food and Drug Administration is widely expected to issue the authorization soon for Moderna’s vaccine candidate, after the agency’s vaccine advisers voted Thursday to recommend this. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would need to green-light the vaccine before shots can be administered and a CDC advisory panel is meeting this weekend to discuss it.

News 8’s Alexis Rogers and McKinzie Roth visited Traditions at North Willow to surprise them with the “Gr8ful Give Back” as one of two long-term care facilities that received $2,500 worth of Subway gift cards for workers. These are just a few moments that have made life a little easier for family members like Sara Tischbein.

Dec 18, 2020 / 03:52 PM EST (CNN) Within a week, eight nuns living in the Notre Dame of Elm Grove in Wisconsin died from COVID-19, all of whom, in their own ways, were mentors in the community. The School Sisters of Notre Dame confirmed the deaths to CNN affiliate WTMJ, adding the sisters died of complications caused by the virus. “Every one of our sisters is really important,” Sister Debra Sciano, the provincial leader of the School Sisters of Notre Dame Central Pacific Province, told the news station. “Not only to us, but we feel they have touched thousands of lives we’ll never be aware of.”

It warms my heart to know that we are fighting this as a team,” said Misty Tidd, immunization clinician at Franciscan Health.
