North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said the investigation into Andrew Brown Jr. s death should continue after a local district attorney announced he would not be filing charges against the deputies involved in the fatal shooting. Federal officials should continue to thoroughly investigate the shooting of Andrew Brown Jr. in Elizabeth City, Cooper said in a statement. Public confidence would have been better served with a special prosecutor and by quickly making public the incident footage. Our state should pass specific laws to increase transparency, confidence and accountability in the justice system.

CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) - Full capacity will be allowed during the Coca-Cola 600 race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, officials announced Friday.
The decision was made after North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper lifted all mandatory capacity and gathering limits, social distancing requirements, and most mandatory mask requirements.
Now, seating limitations have been lifted, opening the door for thousands more race fans to enjoy a jam-packed month of May at Charlotte Motor Speedway, including the weekend’s NGK NTK NHRA Four-Wide Nationals and the Memorial Day Weekend Coca-Cola 600.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Charlotte Hornets announced today that the team will increase Spectrum Centerâs capacity for any potential games in the upcoming State Farm Play-In Tournament and the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs, from 25 percent to 60 percent, or about 12,000 fans.
Yesterday, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper lifted social distancing requirements and limits on capacity and gatherings within the state. Despite these changes, fans will still be required to wear masks that fully cover the mouth and nose at all times inside Spectrum Center except when actively eating or drinking.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday that it would be easing up on mask guidance as more and more people become fully vaccinated. But North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is holding off on adopting the new guidances for now.
According to the CDC, masks would still be recommended for settings like public transportation, but most restrictions would be lifted for those who are fully vaccinated.
