Public middle schoolers offered unique program

The participating students â 14 from each grade, 6th through 9th â will spend two days a week at Verdun Adventure Bound near Rixeyville and two days at Highland School in Warrenton. Highland is not aware of any other organizations in our area providing a similar program that combines both academic and social-emotional support with an outdoor education component in the same program, at the same scale, and in a partnership with an outdoor education center like Verdun. With 3,397 donors participating, the 24-hour online campaign concluded at midnight. In eight years, it has raised more than $7 million.
The Warrenton-based Northern Piedmont Community Foundation organizes the fundraising blitz, which this year has 197 participating nonprofits in Fauquier, Culpeper, Rappahannock and Madison counties.
