Easthampton woman critically injured when hit by SUV; struck on Brook Street while using snowblower

EASTHAMPTON A 37-year-old woman who was operating a snowblower along the side of the road on Brook Street suffered critical injuries Wednesday morning when she was struck by a vehicle, police said.
The woman, whose name was not disclosed to the press, suffered life-threatening injuries in the 11:30 a.m. incident, police said. She was rushed by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she is considered to be in critical condition.
According to police, the woman was using a snowblower along the edge of the road when she was struck by a Nissan SUV.

ORANGE An Orange man faces a slew of charges after allegedly entering the home of a 71-year-old woman Monday afternoon and repeatedly stabbing and punching her before being fended off by the victim’s grandson.
James Gonzalez, 29, of Prentiss Street, is to be arraigned in Orange District Court for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, assault to murder while armed on a person over 60, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, home invasion, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and assault and battery on a person over 60 and disabled.
