Exports grow 14% in Jul-May: Dawood
Commerce adviser shares provisional figures for trade

Pakistan’s exports recorded an increase of 14% to $22.563 billion during the July-May period of 2021, tweeted Adviser to the PM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood on Wednesday.
He said, “The Ministry of Commerce is pleased to share that according to provisional figures, our exports during July-May 2021 increased by 14% to $22.563 billion as compared to $19.801 billion in July-May 2020.”
Dawood added that the credit for the $2.76 billion increase goes to our exporters for maintaining the momentum of our exports during a year marred by contraction and uncertainty in our major markets. Meanwhile, on a monthly comparison with last year, the exports increased by 18.7% to $1.657 billion in May 2021 compared to $1.396 billion in May 2020.

Pakistan’s endeavours to promote its products at the retail level have borne fruit as The Kroger Company, the third largest retail store chain in the US, has added Pakistani food products to its outlets.
“The Ministry of Commerce is pleased to inform that Pakistani food products are now available at The Kroger Co, US,” tweeted Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce, the company has 2,700 stores and an annual turnover of nearly $122 billion.

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Monday approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs20 billion for procurement of 10 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine next month, ARY News reported.
The ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin was specially called to provide a technical supplementary grant of USD 130 million to the National Disaster Management Fund to ensure timely procurement of Corona Vaccine for the effective national response to COVID-19 pandemic.
The funds will be utilized for the procurement of 10 million doses of the COVID vaccine during the month of June 2021.
According to the finance ministry, the need for additional funds will be reviewed during the next fiscal year and additional funds will be provided accordingly.
