Photos: West Mercia Police THE brave people of Worcester helped to stop a despicable attack after a Romanian gangster ran over an innocent man in broad daylight. Marius-anton Roman mounted the pavement in his Mercedes in Vincent Road, Worcester, and struck his former friend, Madalin Oanta, shattering his leg. His thugs then rained down punches and kicks on the helpless victim. The 33-year-old now faces deportation to Romania along with the other two attackers, Ionut Tudor and Cristi Stefanescu. Roman was jailed for 10 and a half years for inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday following the attack on August 2 last year.

Worcester City Gym boss who stole £20,000 of electricity hit with £1 bill

A GYM director who stole £20,000 of electricity must pay back just £1 because he has no assets, large debts and is on furlough due to Covid-19. Christopher Robinson, who previously ran City Gym in Sherriff Street in Worcester, has also been banned from acting as a company director. The 52-year-old appeared before Judge James Burbidge QC at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday as part of a proceeds of crime application hearing. The defendant of Ivy Crescent, Worcester, illegally abstracted the electricity at the gym between December 1, 2013 and January 30, 2015, pleading guilty to the charge on April 1, 2019. He received a six week prison sentence suspended for 24 weeks and was ordered to complete unpaid work.

Photo: James Connell BROTHERS have appeared together accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm after an alleged bottle attack outside a Worcester nightclub. Fabio Cruz, aged 20, and Michael Cruz, aged 24, both of Essex Close, Worcester, did not enter a plea to section 18 wounding with intent when they appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday. Neither entered pleas to the alleged offence which involves an attack on a man outside Tramps in Worcester involving a bottle. The Worcester News understands that the alleged victim suffered a bleed on the brain following the incident on October 17, 2019.
