A BRUTE beat a boy with his belt, leaving welts on his bottom, because the lad struggled to read a Polish book. Karol Lobos admitted the attack on the six-year-old boy, pleading guilty to assaulting/ill-treating/neglecting a child which caused unnecessary suffering or injury when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday. A further charge of child cruelty which alleged that Lobos, 39, of Goodwin Gardens, Evesham had made the boy kneel on raw popcorn with his arms in the air for one hour was not pursued by the prosecution, a decision challenged by Judge Nicolas Cartwright who heard the case and ultimately jailed the defendant.
1/1 A MUM found her close friend soaking wet, half-naked and hysterical after her partner tried to ‘drown’ her in the bath, a court heard. Richard Evans denies the attempted murder of Jane Webster in the bath of his home in Ronkswood Hill, Worcester. The 48-year-old admits assault occasioning actual bodily harm and making a threat to kill her during the attack on July 4 last year. Mrs Webster’s friend, Debbie Heason, appeared as a witness at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday over live videolink. Mrs Heason had been talking to Mrs Webster at the Gun Tavern on the day of the attack. Evans had left the pub first, before 7pm, followed by Mrs Webster and Mrs Heason who remained in contact via text message during the evening.
1/1 FOUR people have admitted taking part in a bloody brawl outside a Worcester community centre, which left one of those injured suffering a bleed on the brain. Two others, alleged to have been involved in the street fight that took place not far from Warndon Youth and Community Centre in Shap Drive last June, have also appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court. Footage of the brawl, which took place at around 7pm on June 10, was shown to magistrates as they decided the offences were so serious their powers were insufficient to deal with the case. Abdul Muffasir, aged 23, of Northfield Street, Worcester, and Keah Hempstock, 23, of Sycamore Road, Worcester, both pleaded guilty to violent disorder.
