‘It just doesn’t make sense’: 17-year-old Nisha Mekedulu was found dead inside a Worcester apartment; her family wants to know what happened

What she heard was every parent’s fear. Her 17-year-old daughter was dead.
“I was like what are you talking about? I said no, I talked to Nisha that evening,” Farida said.
Confusion set in as the family tried to find answers. But there were already messages on Facebook about Nisha Mekedulu’s death. A mentor from Straight Up Ministries in Worcester also showed up at the family’s Worcester home to tell them the horrible news.

Fallen Worcester Fire Lt. Jason Menard was posthumously given the medal of honor during Massachusetts Firefighter of the Year awards Monday. The awards, usually done in a live ceremony, were virtual for the 31st annual event.
“To his family and members of the Worcester Fire Department, all we can say is you’ve suffered a loss that no one can understand,” Gov. Charlie Baker said. “Lt. Menard left behind children, a wife, and his sisters and brothers in the fire department when he gave his life to save a fellow firefighter before becoming trapped himself. To Tina and your family, we can never say ‘thank you’ enough for all that you’ve sacrificed.”
WORCESTER Family and friends came together Monday in St. Peter Catholic Church to celebrate the lives of Edna Mae Williams and her son, Gerald “Jerry” Prince.
Williams, 85, and Prince, 61, both died in a fire Feb. 12 at 13 Jaques Ave. Woodrow Adams Sr., 71, passed away Feb. 13 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston while being treated for smoke inhalation and injuries he sustained while jumping from the burning building.
The life of Adams, who is the son-in-law of Williams and brother-in-law of Prince, will be celebrated Tuesday.
Woodrow Adams Jr., who is a court officer in Worcester District Court, had nothing but praise for the service and the outpouring of support from the city of Worcester.

“For probable cause purposes, I believe there is enough for at least four offenses,” said Andrew D’Angelo of Worcester District Court.
Prosecutors outlined a long history of DUI and OUI charges in court Friday. Eight of those are from out of state in Texas and Florida, while three, including the most recent arrest, are from Massachusetts.
On Thursday night, an officer saw a Jeep without its headlights on traveling close to 20 miles under the speed limit on Southbridge Street, according to court documents.
After a brief pursuit, the car was pulled over. The officer reported a strong smell of alcohol from inside.
