Members of the LeBeouf Bros. Towing family gathered February 6 to christen the mv. Miss Andrea, named after the company’s longest-tenured employee, Andrea Joseph.
Joseph joined LeBeouf Towing as a 19-year-old, after earning an associate of business degree.
“I’ve been here ever since and never looked back,” she said.
Now in her 45th year with the company, Joseph said she first worked for Earl Gonsoulin, who joined Willard and Irvin LeBeouf as an equal partner in the company in 1946. The Gonsoulin family bought the company outright in 1968.
Gonsoulin’s son, Dickie, now leads the company, along with his son, Jon. So while LeBeouf Towing is in its third generation of Gonsoulin family leadership, Joseph has faithfully served with all three.
Bob’s Bayou Black Marina in Gibson can stay open for at least another 12 months.
For the third straight year, a one-year lease between the marina and Williams Inc. has been approved, from March 1 to the end of February 2022.
Previously, the marina operated under what it thought was a 30-year lease of a 300-yard outlet canal that stretches from the marina to Shell Barge Canal, which connects to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, that expired in 2024. But Williams informed the marina Jan. 31, 2018, that the lease had expired.
The marina received a one-year extension, until Feb. 28, 2019, and was told a metal gate would be installed on March 1, 2019, to stop access, before negotiating yet another one-year extension.

The teeth-rattling cold weather that blew through the South almost two weeks ago was highly unusual, and it showed, particularly in its effects on the power grid. Texas, in particular, made news for its rolling and lengthy blackouts, even as temperatures dipped near zero in places.
And it wasn’t just homes and businesses that were without power in the cold. On the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, both the Colorado River Locks and the Brazos River Floodgates were without grid power for close to three days, starting on Monday, February 15. While backup generators came on at Brazos, the cold weather rendered the generators at the Colorado River Locks inoperable for several days.
