As part of this settlement, Tesla has agreed to implement a community microgrid project, which leverages the company s technological expertise in developing next generation power here in the Bay Area.
The community microgrid project will consist of the installation of a solar electric system of approximately 160 kilowatts, paired with a two-powerpack storage system.
Tesla will fund the implementation of this solar microgrid system in a community prioritized under the air district s Community Health Protection Program, which focuses on improving air quality and public health in the Bay Area s most heavily impacted areas.
The goal is to reduce electricity costs as well as localized air pollution emissions within the community.
Tesla to pay $1M air quality penalty, construct solar project
FAIRFIELD Tesla Inc. has agreed to pay $1 million and install a solar roof project to settle an air quality violation at its Bay Area manufacturing plant.
“This settlement requires Tesla’s compliance with (Bay Area Air Quality Management District) regulations at its Fremont facility and demonstrates the air district’s continuing efforts to ensure strict compliance with air pollution regulations while seeking mutually beneficial solutions for the community,” Jack Broadbent, executive officer of the air district, said in a statement announcing the settlement. “As part of this settlement, Tesla has agreed to implement a community microgrid project, which leverages the company’s technological expertise in developing next-generation power here in the Bay Area.”
Barnes is one of 120 government provided vehicles now parked in neat rows on a dusty, windy 3.4 acre patch of San Francisco s port land at Pier 94.
A total of 125 residents are provided meals, clothing and even twice weekly laundry service while they shelter in place during the pandemic.
“This is giving them a fighting chance for a better life,” said Gwendolyn Westbrook, CEO of The United Council of Human Services, a non-profit agency that operates the program.
She said that she’s already seen a transformation among many of the residents here, half of whom had been sleeping in the park early on to escape the pandemic.
Electric Truck Trials Continue to Benefit Manufacturer and Customer Alike
California Test Bed for Latest Technology
US – XPO Logistics has partnered with Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) to test Daimler s battery-electric commercial trucks under real-life operating conditions in California.
XPO drivers will use tractors from DTNA’s Freightliner Electric Innovation and Customer Experience (CX) Fleet for a nine-month pilot program in the Oakland area. The data generated by the XPO pilot will help inform DTNA’s final design of its battery-electric truck prior to full series production. XPO and DTNA have collaborated on transportation innovation for more than a decade. Troy Cooper, President of XPO Logistics, said:
Tesla accused of environmental regulations violations

Tesla has been accused of violating environmental rules and regulations according to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC),
CNBC has reported. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the United States last week accused the California-based electric car maker of failing to prove that it is in compliance with federal emissions standards for hazardous air pollutants, the news site added.
Of course, in the case of battery-electric vehicles such as those made by Tesla, the emissions of hazardous air pollutants mentioned are not from exhaust emissions. The EPA is seeking details in particular about how Tesla handles the “surface coating” of its vehicles, according to the report.
