Some of the surgeries and procedures booked at the North Bay Regional Health Centre in the last two weeks of May will not be cancelled and will proceed as scheduled, says Kim McElroy.

Ontario is in trouble. Too many patients need hospital care. Hence a provincial emergency order now permits the transfer of hospitalized patients to another hospital without necessarily obtaining consent.
This was followed by a new provincial transfer protocol to allow for the transfer of hospital patients to a long-term care or retirement home not of their choosing, without having to obtain the consent of the patient or their substitute decision-maker.

North Bay police have announced they are supporting a local initiative to encourage open discussions on mental health, bullying, abusive relationships and at-risk substance use.
The North Bay Police Service, in support of the Enforcement Pillar of the Community Drug Strategy of North Bay and Area, is launching the #TimeToTalk initiative, which aims to remove the stigma around talking about these issues with a parent or guardian, teacher or police officer.
