The air quality in Delhi deteriorated to the severe category with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 492 on Saturday, as per data provided by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
Delhi witnessed dense fog that has resulted in the delay of 24 trains traveling in and around the national capital, and at least four flights moreover one flight has been canceled.
The air monitoring agency SAFAR said the combination of dense fog formation, extremely low ventilation and shallow boundary layer height caused air quality to deteriorate.
SAFAR said clam winds and low ventilation conditions are likely to further deteriorate air quality from the lower to middle end of the very poor category on Thursday.
