New Delhi: The air quality of the national capital deteriorated further on Monday while remaining in the very poor category as the overall AQI was recorded at 320. The concentration of PM10 and PM2.5 pollutants increased on Monday and as a result, the AQI rose up from 309 to 320.
On Sunday Delhi recorded lowest minimum temperature of the season at 3.4 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal
NEW DELHI: With the cold wave continuing, the season s lowest minimum temperature of 3.4 degree Celsius, which was five notches below normal, was recorded in Delhi on Sunday.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said the minimum temperature may rise on Monday and Tuesday.
The minimum temperature was the lowest at Lodhi Road at 3.3 degrees Celsius. Last year, the mercury plummeted to below 4° Celsius only in the last week of December. In 2019, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded on December 28 at 2.4° Celsius. The all-time record of lowest minimum temperature was recorded on December 27, 1930 at zero degree Celsius.

Delhi s minimum temperature dips to 3.4 degrees C
A cold wave swept Delhi on Sunday as it recorded the coldest morning of the season so far at 3.4 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. On Saturday, the minimum temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory, which provides representative data for the city, had settled at 3.9 degrees Celsius. The observatory recorded a minimum of 3.4 degrees Celsius, five notches below the normal, on Sunday morning. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 22 degrees Celsius, an IMD official said.
The mercury dipped to 3.3 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road, as icy winds from snow-laden Western Himalayas barrelled through the city, the IMD said.

New Delhi [India], December 20 (ANI): As fog continues to engulf the national capital, the city s air quality index (AQI) has dipped into the very poor category, according to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), on Sunday.
People were seen sitting near the fire to protect themselves from the cold in the Anand Vihar area.
Suresh, a local who was selling tea in the morning, says, I work as a security guard, so I have to stay up all night. It s very cold and foggy here, we somehow manage to keep ourselves warm.
