  VANCOUVER A prestigious international awards foundation named after a legendary broadcast journalist has chosen CTV News Vancouver for multiple honours, including several recognizing the station’s coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic in British Columbia. The 2021 Edward R. Murrow Awards were announced Thursday morning in Washington, D.C., and CTV News Vancouver was named as the recipient of five International Murrows, more than any other newsroom. The station s television and digital reporting around the pandemic earned the top prize for Overall Excellence. CTV News Vancouver was also honoured for its pandemic coverage in the Breaking News, Investigative, and Best Newscast categories.

KLCC Wins a Record Five Prestigious Regional Edward R Murrow Awards From RTDNA

• May 29, 2020 KLCC won first place in the “Best Coverage of Native America” category for Radio/Podcast for “Borders, Migration, and Belonging: Native Voices”. Supported by the University of Oregon’s Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics, this in-depth series explored issues important to Indigenous communities in the state, including tribes’ timber practices, the return of Indian artifacts, cultivating interest in traditional foods, and the evolution of the Native American art scene.  Reporters Brian Bull and Karen Richards were reporters for the series; Rachael McDonald was primary editor. Richards also swept Associate Division III for Radio/Podcast, winning first, second, and third place awards for Best Feature Story.  Her submissions were also from the Wayne Morse Series: “Indigenous Artists Work for Recognition and Change”; “Native Oregon History Goes Public”;  and “Native Oregon Artifacts Coming Home.”

47 ABC receives two regional journalism awards

47abc May 6, 2021 The Radio Television Digital News Association named 47 ABC as a double 2021 Regional Edward R. Murrow award winner Thursday. The first award was given for Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the series aired in 2020 – Breaking The Stigma: Fighting For Acceptance. The series hosted by Senior Evening Anchor Julian Sadur was a follow up to the previous year’s Regional Murrow award-winning special Breaking The Stigma: Just Listen. The second award was given for News Series – called Back To School 2020. Senior Evening Anchor Julian Sadur took a look at students returning to school in many different ways in the middle of a pandemic.
