Walmart to unveil low-price insulin for diabetes patients FacebookTwitterEmail Walmart on Thursday announced it recently paid $13.5 million to its Illinois associates through an additional cash bonus. Walmart said Tuesday it will begin offering a lower-price insulin which could fit better into budgets for the millions of Americans who don t have health insurance or struggle to pay for the life-saving drug. This will be the first-ever and only private brand analog for prescriptions for the drug used to control high blood sugar in diabetes patients. Starting later this week, the wide-spread retailer will sell an exclusive private-label version of the drug called ReliOn NovoLog to adults and children who have a prescription. The new brand includes analog insulin vials retailing for $72.88 and a package of prefilled FlexPens selling for $85.88. According to Walmart, that works out to be savings of up to approximately $101 per vial of insulin or $251 per package of FlexPens.
