Courts utilizing teleconference software for hearings | News, Sports, Jobs

Utilizing teleconference software Thursday, two of Washington County’s most recently indicted felony defendants and their attorneys appeared virtually for bond and arraignment hearings held by Washington County Common Pleas Court. Attempted murder of Devon Ours Washington County Prosecutor Nicole Coil outlined additional details concerning alleged events that have a Marietta man still fighting for his life following an assault last week. “Time was critical, obviously, to Mr. Ours. I don’t know what his current medical prognosis is but that for the type of injury that he had and that he currently sustains are two collapsed lungs and he currently has very slight brain activity,” said Coil.

NEWS Posted on: 02/18/2021   Washington County, Ohio- After the attack on Blue Knob Road last Feb. 12, Stephen Osborne was taken into custody and now has been indicted by the Washington County Grand Jury on several charges, one is attempted murder.  Other charges include felonious assault which comes after striking a victim with a baseball bat, tampering with evidence and possession of weapons under disability are charges brought on as well.    New to the story is 18-year-old Sierah Caldwell. Early reports say that Osbourne was using a social media account belonging to a female to communicate with the victim.  The victim met with the female at the home believing he was talking with her in the conversations.  Reports from early this week say that she was asked to play along while Osborne hid in the home waiting.  Caldwell has officially been indicted on attempted murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

mnewbanks@mariettatimes.com Gross sexual imposition and felonious assault were just two of the offenses brought before the Washington County Grand Jury this week. Jason Dean Lanning, 37, of 105 Melody Lane, Marietta, was indicted on two counts of felonious assault, both second-degree felonies, after he allegedly pistol whipped a man and tried to run him over with a vehicle. According to Marietta Police reports, units were dispatched Nov. 18 to 840 Pike St., Sierra Apartments, in reference to an assault. Contact was made with the victims and other witnesses. Through the investigation, it was found that Lanning had arrived at the apartment parking lot and got into a verbal argument that escalated into a gun being pulled and the victim being pistol whipped by Lanning.
