Green Britain Centre to welcome green industry employees in Swaffham as councillor discusses leisure plan pitfalls

A district councillor has explained why plans for a leisure centre at a former eco centre were not feasible.
Speaking during this weekâs Swaffham Town Council meeting, Brecklandâs executive member for contracts and assets, Paul Hewett, said it would have been difficult to convert the Green Britain Centre into a sport and leisure provision.
He said the whole heating and cooling system would have had to be changed, as well as the glazing if the town councilâs desired land swap had gone ahead.

Town councillors have agreed to proceed with legal due diligence which could see their authority take control of a former eco building.
Swaffham Town Council backed plans for an additional feasibility study and public consultation on the Green Britain Centre (GBC) site in the town during a special meeting last night.
Paul Darby s proposal was seconded by Colin Houghton, and the wording included making urgent enquiries with sport and leisure providers.
