TWO Basingstoke men found with kitchen knives in public have been fined. Richard James Evans, of Cleaver Road, South Ham, was found to be in possession of the blade in Basingstoke on May 1, 2020. Pleading guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates Court earlier this week, the 39-year-old was fined £66, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34. In a separate incident, 19-year-old Joshua Melfi was found with a black handled kitchen knife on June 28, 2019. He was given a community order, where he must participate in 25 rehabilitation activity days. The court heard that because the defendant was a juvenile at the time of the offence, the sentence should be akin to that he would have received at that age.

Basingstoke Magistrates Court. An Andoverian was almost eight times the drug-drive limit as he drove through the town centre on Christmas Eve 2019, a court has heard. Reuben Twigg had 384 micrograms of benzoylecgonine, a breakdown product of cocaine, in a litre of his blood, where the legal limit is 50. The 27-year-old was stopped by police on Shepherds Spring Lane on December 24, 2019, whilst behind the wheel of his car. Twigg, of Walworth Road, Picket Piece, was banned from driving for a year at Basingstoke Magistrates Court last week. He was further fined £253, and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

Detective denies forging witness statement in investigation into murder of mother-of-five by husband

14:42 EDT, 20 January 2021 A detective has pleaded not guilty to forging a witness statement during a murder investigation. Detective Constable Robert Ferrow, of Hampshire police, is accused of completing and signing the statement as part of the investigation into the death of mother-of-five Lucy-Anne Rushton in Andover in June 2019. Suspected drug dealer denies supplying class A and B drugs in Winchester A SUSPECTED drug dealer will stand trial accused of supplying class A and B drugs in Winchester. Omari A White-Daley appeared at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday last week. The 24-year-old pleaded not guilty to supplying MDMA, ketamine, cannabis and cocaine in the city on August 9, 2019.
