HANOI (Vietnam News/ANN): Minister of National Defence Sen Lt Gen Phan Văn Giang had phone talks with his Canadian counterpart Harjit Singh Sajjan on Thursday (May 6).
They said bilateral defence co-operation has grown toward effectiveness, with both sides implementing their memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the collaboration and achieving encouraging outcomes in training, peacekeeping and maritime security.
Sajjan lauded Vietnam’s role in Asean, as well as the bloc’s role in leading and fostering the establishment of multilateral security co-operation mechanisms.

HANOI (Vietnam News/ANN): Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Hồng Diên held a working session with Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chay Navuth in Hanoi on Thursday (May 6) to discuss measures to strengthen bilateral ties across trade, industry and energy.
Diên expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Cambodian Government and with prevention and control measures, Cambodia will soon wipe out Covid-19 and restore its economy.
On the occasion, he presented 10,000 anti-bacterial cloth masks to the Cambodian Embassy in Vietnam, and 10,000 others to each of the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce; Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation; and the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

HANOI (Vietnam News/ANN): Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many provinces have imposed strong measures to curb the spread of the fatal coronavirus following orders from the Prime Minister.
From 5pm on Monday, Hanoi temporarily closed relics, religious sites and street-side restaurants and drinks stalls until further notice from the municipal People s Committee.
Indoor restaurants must ensure a minimum distance of one metre between customers or have a shield between seats. They should also encourage takeaway sales.

HO CHI MINH CITY (Vietnam News/ANN): Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (HOSE: VJC) has released its audited annual financial statements for 2020.
The audited revenue of Vietjet’s parent company in 2020 was reported at more than VNĐ15.2 trillion (US$657.9 million). Its consolidated revenue and post-tax profit after audit were VNĐ18.22 trillion ($788.4 million) and VNĐ69 billion ($2.99 million), respectively.
Regarding earnings by sector, Vietjet recorded a loss of more than VNĐ1.45 trillion ($62.9 million) in air transport, lower by 31 per cent than the figure previously reported in its own financial statements.
This ensured Vietjet was among few airlines in the world able to keep their core business afloat and turn a profit in 2020.
