Chantalle Aubertin is the new press secretary for Justice Minister David Lametti, vacating her previous position as press secretary to Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna. Aubertin previously worked as communications and issues adviser to McKenna from November 2019 to January 2020, and was also a ministerial aide to the minister in 2018 to 2019 while McKenna was minister of Environment and Climate Change.
Aubertin is also currently pursuing a master of social work from Wilfrid Laurier University.

In a Twitter post on May 29, Aubertin said that under McKenna she had worked for a “fearless, determined, and resilient leader.”
McKenna returned the warm sentiments in a tweet on the same day, declaring that Aubertin “worked hard day in and day out, always with a smile and with kindness, to make sure we delivered.”
Active cases also rose slightly to 312, up from 307.
There were no new deaths reported Thursday. The total number of deaths in Waterloo region linked to COVID-19 sits at 256.
There have been a total of 16,070 cases since March 2020 with 15,492 marked as resolved.
There were 18 people with COVID-19 in the region s hospitals as of Thursday, a rise of one, with nine of those people in the intensive care unit.
The region reported there were 3,285 cases that have tested positive for a mutation or variant. Of those:
2,901 are confirmed to be the B117 variant first detected in the U.K.
29 are the P1 variant first detected in Brazil.

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Waterloo Region remain stable. 32 were added to the region s summary dashboard on Wednesday. That compares with 33 on Tuesday.
There have been 16,026 local cases since the start of the pandemic.
The active caseload has dropped to 307.

It does not include ICU data for Grand River Hospital. The hospital and Ministry of Health are working to resolve the issue).
Over 324,000 residents of Waterloo Region (18+) have received at least one dose of the vaccine, which works out to over 63 per cent. Over 22,000 residents (4.75 per cent) have been fully vaccinated.
Hospitalizations drop as 32 new COVID-19 cases reported in Waterloo region
The number of people being treated for COVID-19 in Waterloo region s hospitals dropped by six to 17 on Wednesday. The region reported 32 new COVID-19 cases. It marks the fourth straight day of cases numbering in the 30s.
