Fresh blood for MTN board

JOHANNESBURG - TELECOMS operator MTN yesterday announced two appointments to its board, Nosipho Molope and Noluthando Gosa.
Molope was appointed as as an independent non-executive director of MTN Group and Gosa as an independent non-executive director, both effective, April,1, 2021.
Molope holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of the Witwatersrand as well as a Bachelor of Accounting Science from the University of South Africa and is a Chartered Accountant.
MTN said she had a wealth of experience in telecommunications, packaging, agricultural and petrochemical sectors.
“Having been a director and chairman of the audit and risk committees in various MTN operating companies, she is well versed in the challenges and complex regulatory requirements of the markets, where MTN operates,” the telecoms firm said.

TORONTO Doug Ford wants people to hold on just a little longer.
Ontario’s populist premier speaks softly into the camera at a recent news conference, his tone subdued, almost pleading.
He says he knows people have “COVID fatigue,” but there is a vaccine. The economy will recover. The province will bounce back.

On Thursday, Waterloo region reported a single-day record high of 100 new COVID-19 cases and three more deaths.
As of Christmas Eve, there were a total of 5,387 cases and 158 deaths in the region since the pandemic began.
