Louisiana s casinos, video gaming devices and racetrack slot machines saw revenues jump more than 18% for the 2020-21 fiscal year, though the number of customers is down sharply.
For the year running from July 2020 through June 2021, the state s gaming establishments have reported more than $2.9 billion in revenue, according to data from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. Revenue was up around $450 million compared to the previous fiscal year, running from July 2019 through June 2020, when the state had strict protocols in place for casinos as COVID-19 raged across the state.

Nearly two-thirds of Louisiana renters think they are at least somewhat likely to be evicted in the next two months, according to survey data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
That number increases for Louisiana’s Black renters, nearly three-quarters of whom said they were at least somewhat likely to be evicted in the next two months.
And as an eviction moratorium, which has acted as a safety net for renters during the coronavirus pandemic, comes to end, housing advocates in Acadiana are bracing for an uptick in need.
The CDC’s eviction moratorium is set to expire on July 31, which means tenants can be evicted for failure to pay rent.
