Despite increasing eligibility, Broome County receives same amount of vaccine from state
(WBNG) Despite continually asking the state for more doses of the vaccine, the amount of doses the Broome County Health Department receives each week has remained the same.
Health officials told 12 News Monday the department received 1,170 doses of the Pfizer vaccine this week; this means the department has received the same number of doses every week for over a month despite more people becoming eligible.
Mary McFadden, the deputy public health director for the county, said the department continues to ask the state for more doses, and is able to distribute up to 2,500 doses a week if given the supply.

As COVID-19 vaccine distribution continues to expand in the United States, Binghamton University students will soon get their turn.
On March 29, New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the expansion of COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to New York residents aged 30 or older by March 30, and residents aged 16 or older will be eligible for the vaccine by April 6 at 8 a.m. According to Ryan Yarosh, senior director of media and public relations at BU, the University plans to begin offering the vaccine in the University Union.
