Senate to take up bills to spend federal funds, alter election laws

MADISON - Republican lawmakers passed bills this week that they knew were doomed before they introduced them.  Republicans in the state Senate on Wednesday approved bills that would alter the state’s election laws even though Democratic Gov. Tony Evers has made clear he is unlikely to approve them. They also signed off on a measure that would bar government officials from mandating COVID-19 vaccinations another idea likely to face a veto. Soon after, they began approving bills that would direct $3.2 billion in federal COVID-19 relief funding. Evers controls the funds, has already started allocating it and has signaled he will veto their legislation.
